At Learn Assist we are passionate and committed to improving the lives of people and regenerating local communities through improved economic activity. As an affiliated training provider, we are a one stop shop for candidates trying to get off benefits and back into long term employment within the security industry.
All candidates have the opportunity to gain a Security Licence, but also importantly, return to sustainable employment. We pride ourselves on our ability to match the right candidate to the right security company through our advisors’ knowledge and close working relationship with employers across London.
We promote equal opportunities for all candidates. Our training package is available to all irrespective of background, qualifications, experience, disability, gender, ethnicity or age. We do not accept that any barriers are insurmountable and every day people achieve their dreams with our assistance.
Our programme starts with an application day to engage learners. We give a talk on the security industry, career opportunities and jobs available. Candidates are then asked to complete our application form before an appointment to see us for a one to one interview.
We carry out initial assessments (numeracy, literacy and verbal communication) with each learner to discover their needs, getting to know them so that they can be appropriately supported. We focus on the ability of candidate not just to pass the security course, but on whether they meet the SIA licencing requirements and BS7858 employer vetting system. Every step of our programme is geared to assist the learner on the road to employability. Both one to one interviews and group assessments are carried out to replicate the interview techniques the candidate can expect from a potential employer. With the information we gather we can match the candidate’s skill and experience to the relevant job opportunity.
All our fully qualified trainers have a background working in the security industry and have delivered the SIA training since it was introduced in 2006. They draw on their experiences to bring the course to life, covering work related topics which candidates may come across in their work environment. We use a wide range of teaching methods which include aural, kinestetic and verbal teaching styles. This enables learners to absorb information quickly and easily, helping them to meet the lesson aims, pass the exams and thus meet employer requirements.
We understand that every candidate has different needs when returning to the job market. With this in mind, our advisors liaise closely with you throughout the process, signposting candidates to additional help they may require to overcome any barriers to them gaining employment and realising their potential.
Each advisor will ensure that every candidate gets a one to one service to help build their confidence and get them job ready to make the transition back into work. We arrange job interviews, giving candidates advice and guidance on the process and background information on the company. It does not stop here; we are committed to continuing support, we regularly call candidates to monitor their progress at work and help them liaise with their employer to iron out any minor issues before they cause a problem.
It is paramount to the success of our model that we create and maintain partnerships. We work alongside many London Boroughs and liaise closely with regeneration organisations to ensure we reach all areas of the local community through outreach hubs.
